Traditional politics of attacking the person rather than the program has once again causing troubles in our country. Aren’t we tired of it? The Kilusang Bagong Lipunan would have been beaten as early as 1983 if the United Opposition focused more on the issues rather than concentrating on the extravagant spending of the first lady and the lupus eymathosus of Ferdinand Marcos. Estrada would not have received more than 40% of the votes back in 1998, had Lakas stopped the issue of his womanizing. Aside from being a blatant lie, villarroyo is an attempt to attack the person and deviate much on the issues. There are no attacks on the programs of Villar. Nothing is said about the poverty alleviation programs of Villar and whether they would work given the current settings. Nothing is said about the OFW program of Villar. There is no true debate. The Liberal Party is addicted with the villar arroyo issue and c5 which have nothing to do with the programs of their opponent.
Liberal Party as the name implies should be the party of change, and their presidential candidate should be at the forefront of it. The lies and attacks including the issue of villarroyo secret candidate are not helping them and it is sending the wrong message to young people. The Liberal Party is now the party of traditional politics. This is sad news for many political observers who try to see the LP as a party deviating from the traditional politics of yesteryears.
